Our Favorite Convection Microwave Recipes

Sometimes you don’t have the time to prepare a meal in the oven or on the stovetop, but you still want a warm home-cooked meal. Luckily, as long as you have a convection microwave, you can still prepare fast and delicious food in the comfort of your own home. That’s why we went ahead and found a few of our favorite convection microwave recipes to share with you in this week’s blog!

Italian Pasta Bake

Nothing says good home-cooked meals like pasta. To make this recipe you will place your pasta in a microwave-safe bowl, add boiling water, and season with salt.

Next, you will cover the bowl with microwave-safe plastic wrap and pierce a few holes in the plastic. You will place the bowl into the microwave for roughly 20-25 minutes. After, drain the excess water but keep the dish warm. Next, place your oil, onion, bacon, and garlic in another microwave-safe dish and warm up in the microwave for 5 minutes or until softened.

Once softened, stir in red wine and passata and cover for another 3-4 minutes. The next step is to mix in basil, spinach, passata mixture, and baby bocconcini to the pasta and heat up for an additional 4 minutes. Lastly, sprinkle the mixture with cheese and warm it up until the cheese is melted.

Here is what you’ll need to make this pasta dish:

  • 200g dried penne

  • 800ml boiling water

  • 1 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 brown onion, finely chopped

  • 2 bacon rashers, cut into thin strips

  • 2 garlic cloves, crushed

  • 2 tbsp red wine

  • 700g passata

  • 1/2 cup fresh basil leaves, coarsely chopped

  • 60g baby spinach

  • 220g tub cherry bocconcini

  • 40g (1/2 cup) coarsely grated cheddar

Baked Potato

Everyone loves a good baked potato, and here’s a recipe to make one in less than 10 minutes! First, start by washing your potato, and then poking many holes with a fork to allow steam to get out during the cooking process. The next step is to microwave the potato for roughly 3-5 minutes.

Time will vary depending on the size. After the 3-5 minutes are up, flip the potato, and microwave for an additional 3 minutes. You may do more time depending on how tender you want the potato to be. Lastly, load the baked potato with your favorite toppings!

Here is what you’ll need to make this baked potato:

  • 1 russet potato

  • Kosher salt

  • Freshly ground black pepper

  • Butter, for serving

  • Toppings of your choice

Chocolate Mug Cake

Our final recipe is a chocolate mug cake, because who doesn’t love a cake that can be made in minutes? The first step is to mix flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt in a large microwave-safe mug. Once mixed, stir in milk, water, canola oil, and vanilla extract.

To make this cake even sweeter, feel free to add chocolate chips as well. The final step is to heat up in the microwave for 2 minutes, or until the cake is done in the middle.

Here is what you’ll need to make this sweet treat:

  • ¼ cup white sugar

  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

  • ⅛ teaspoon baking soda

  • ⅛ teaspoon salt

  • 3 tablespoons milk

  • 2 tablespoons canola oil

  • 1 tablespoon water¼ teaspoon vanilla extract
