Kitchen Design Trends to Expect in 2020
/The New Year is best celebrated by refreshing all parts of life. The home is where the heart is, so what better place to start than there? Kitchen design trends change every year, however, many key aspects and similarities between them will always remain the same and stay trendy. If your new year’s resolution is “new year, new kitchen,” then you are in good hands! Our design team has weighed in on what trends will be the most popular in home kitchens for 2020.
Colorful Appliances
Fancy, bright-colored stoves used to be a quiet, underground trend reserved for more high-end clients. More neutral colors have continued to anchor kitchens for the past few decades. However, now that more affordable, luxurious kitchen brands are offering colored appliances, they are starting to heat up in the designer world. From bright-colored range and range hood combos to bold fridges and dishwashers, your kitchen will surely be full of life and color.
Double Islands
Kitchen islands typically double as a food-prepping station and a place to gather and eat. Expanding a kitchen’s function and maintaining a traffic flow is made easier with double islands. It’s a convenient, less-cluttered way of dividing the meal prepping and the meal eating! This trend is slowly but surely making its way into the homes of many, and will soon be a top design trend of 2020!
Open Shelves
Open shelves have been becoming more and more popular as the years go on, but in 2020 we will see their peak! More people are starting to stray away from the use of upper cabinets and going for a cleaner, more open look. Open shelves not only add a unique flair to the kitchen but they make space feel bigger and less cluttered with decor.
All Marble Everything!
Marble has always been a timeless luxury for all spaces throughout the home, and next year it will truly give you a luxurious upgrade to your kitchen. Marble backsplash, countertops, and accents throughout the kitchen are definitely in the hot seat for the coming year! If true marble is out of your budget, you could use a faux marble vinyl countertop and backsplash adhesives or decorate your kitchen with marble finished accessories.
Accent Wall
The best way to add a pop of color to your kitchen is by adding an accent wall! This can be done on any wall, but one that we find most people forget about is the ceiling! This is a great place to either maintain neutrality or have some fun, especially if you have vaulted ceilings! Add a hint of color, wallpaper, or wood paneling to your ceiling or a wall of your choosing to complete a dramatic flair or simple addition in your kitchen.
Take 2020 by storm and give a whole new meaning to your new kitchen. It’s the perfect time to create the kitchen of your dreams, and these design trends will hopefully help you do so!
